The why, what and how

Prayer – We believe that there is an urgent call for us, the church in Taunton, to seek God wholeheartedly and to give ourselves to prayer. Just as every great move of God has always been birthed and sustained from a foundation of persistent prayer, prayer is the foundation of our relationship with God and the well from which all our church activity and mission flows.
(Col 4:2, Lk 11:1-13, 18:1-14, 2 Ch 7:14, 1 Thess 5:17)

• Primary vision – to know and love God (Mt 22:37)

• To establish regular, united prayer gatherings for the church in Taunton (Acts 2:42)

• To encourage, equip and support the church particularly in corporate prayer but also in personal prayer

• To create a dedicated space for people to pray – an environment and inter-church community that encourages prayer (Acts 3:1)

The Story of Pursuit

  • Oakwood | Riverside | Greenway

Pursuit started in 2017 at Oakwood church as a fortnightly evening of worship and prayer. It soon became weekly and ran for several years before moving to Riverside Church. During lockdown in 2020 we moved to Greenway Chapel and had some incredible times of encountering God’s presence, and seeing the Spirit move.

  • A taste of 24/7 and lockdown!

We had run two 24 hour days of prayer and in January 2020 opened a 24/7 prayer room and started 40 days of prayer and fasting. Lockdown arrived halfway through so we moved online. We hosted virtual worship times, held a 24/7 day of prayer online along with teaching, interviews and prayer nights while partnering with Awaken

  • A new season

In Sept 2021 we moved to The Bridge in the town centre for 6 months, we started Gospel Nights, and started a lunchtime session at St George’s Church. In 2022 we moved to our current venue at North St Church meeting every Sunday and Friday lunchtime. This year we hope to see WWW sessions, worship school events, days of prayer and more…
